Im either going for the dell 24inch or dell 30inch.

Im not bothered running games in the native res just aslong as I cant see blockyness, With my 19 inch lcd I can go as low as 800x600 before I notice blockyness, What would be the minimum res with the 30inch with games?

1. When do the next gen cards come out?
2. How much will my FX55 cpu overclocked to 2.78 slow up the graphics card.
3. Do I still need to go for sli?

Hi there

i like you want to get a 30" but have decided to wait and see what samsung has to offer in the 30" department only problem is that it rumored not to have HDCP support, think they are going to release a model based on a more advanced screen sometime june/july. also rumors that dell might switch to the same screen.

1)sometime toward the end of the year.

2) problem is that your graphics cards might not work, i can only remember that only a very few 6800 were had dual link dvi. they will still work but cannot display windows in native resolution, think its something like 1200x800(check the exact resolution). Also the dell screen apparently shown non native resolution in games quite well.

3) my advice would be sell the 6800 gt and get 1 ati x1900xt, which would be good for gaming on the dell screen.

the 30" runs windows at ~2500x1200. You can run games in 1280x800 and it scales exactly 2x so is supposed to look quite good

COOL. I guess text is tiny in 2500x1200, so if I ran windows it in a lower res would the text look odd? cos on my llcd if I run windows lower then 1280x1024 the text isnt displayed properly?

I have the 24" Dell and it is truely a thing of beauty. There are plenty of posts here about how good it is and pro's and con's.

It totally fills the viewing area and I cannot imagine how much head spinning would be involved to look at a 30" from the distance I sit from it. LOL
