Sudden Slowdown?

Hi all,

My computer has just slowed right down. It's "stuttering" all the time. If I have a song playing in Winamp or Windows Media Player and I open something small like a .txt file, the music will start slurring and my PC will hang for a few seconds before the file opens.

I recently copied a lot of files across to this PC from another computer via a network, and then moved them on to another partion of my hard disk. Reckon this has anything to do with it?

Thing is my hard drive is 200GB, split in to two. 30GB windows (im using less than 10GB) and the rest storage, (im using about 50GB).

I've done a full virus scan, and nothing. A few spyware scans and nothing. And defragmented at least twice and it's still doing it. Tonight I checked all connections in my PC and everything seems fine.

Any idea what could be wrong as its really starting to bug me now?

Stinger, whats that?

I used Kaspersky for the virus scan.

The spec is a Sempron 2400+, an Arock K7S41 motherboard, 1GB of RAM and a GeForce MX440SE gfx card. Nothing special but it certainly shouldn't be this slow.

try scanning your pc with microtrends online virus scanner.....sometime u find what one virus scanner misses the other picks up...

If you have not changed anything and its random it could be software related and its a case of trial and error IMO....
