Hi all,

Being born after a certain year, I was only given (well more like, my parents were given) a short version Birth Certificate.

I need a long one for some ID for my new job, and I also need to apply for my passport.

The office to do this is local, which is good. Just wondered what ID I need to take and how long does it take for them to get a birth certificate to me?

Many thanks

P.S Yes, I realise that I asked two questions, and not one. :D

AFAIK if you ring them up they will tell you what ID you need, and they give you a new birth certificate there and then. At least they did with my dad when he went for one a couple weeks back.

Exactly the same as me.

You need to ring the Registry of Births and Deaths (might be marriages as well) of where you were born, not where you live and get a replacement.

As for ID, I didn't have a passport so I took the short birth certificate and my driver's license.
