can get a capable pc for £1000
I would agree with the edited quote above, but believe me £1000 doesnt go far on the main pc , and remember you have to add a monitor also ( which can easily add another £400 or more for a large w/s model)
For example:

£100 over the budget already of this £1000, and you have a pretty reasonable pc, but certainly not hi-spec and thats without keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers and software ( which could need another £400 -£800 more at least)
Admiddely the cpu is pretty decent, lo-spec mobo by today's standards though, relatively budget (for 2Gb) ram, and nothing really over the top
I am not complaining about OCUK prices in anyway - just showing how £1000 not so long ago would get you near the top, nowadays gets you middle to lower (and when conroe comes out this will be a budget setup!!!)
Just food for thought
to OP though, yeah £4000 is too much money imo, very few need quad sli and the power consumption would be wallet busting by itself.
