Ok, what sort of car can I be looking at for 5-7k.

Preferably something with decent fuel economy, dont care whether its petrol or diesel. Something nice looking would be great.

Insurance MUST be under Group 10... anyone?

If it must be new, then take a look at Hyundai, as I am assuming you want a new one due to a decent warranty and peace of mind.

1.25 Poverty spec fiesta? :p
1.2 Corsa SXi for the win! :p

Focus Ghia would be a good choice, plenty to choose from at this day and age. Mondeo would be nice but the popular top spec Ghia X would be outside your insurance group requirements though.

Well, Ive been looking around, and have decided that I could extend my budget as I have a 5k trade in.

Saw a 04 plate Golf GT TDI, 5 Door, Climate Control, Full Leather heated seats, 18" GTI alloys, all mint etc etc for £13k.

Sound like a good car/deal?

There are better cars for the money though the golf is nice. Really its down to what you like, can afford to run and want. Your probably not far off a ex demo octavia vrs (new model).

Sounds nice but the price tag doesn't. For that sort of cash, 330D definitely!
