cant get mic to work with sn25p

[Amleto]

I unmuted the mic in the via vinyl audio control panel, it's not muted in the windows control panel. the mic lead is plugged into the pink port denoted * in the schematic below \/

port layout:

x x
. x

x = port
. = no port


when I 'test hardware' in the xp control panel audio section, nothing comes through.

any help gratefully received.
