Not quite. They will work, but you won't get the fancy Aero graphics. If you want the full works, then yes, you will need newish hardware.

I've installed Vista on a four-year-old 1.7GHz P4 with a GeForce 4 MX. It runs fine, if a little slowly. If it'll run on that, it'll run on just about anything recent.

Surely its mainly the graphics card it applies to anyway? Ok so you need decent amount of ram and a good cpu to get it working fully but thats it?

Yup. 512MB and a recent (last few years) P4 or Athlon, and it'll run fine without the fancy Aero stuff. Aero needs a DX9-capable card with 128MB either dedicated or shared RAM (though I suspect the latter would suck somewhat).

What version of the Shuttle are you using that is 4 years old?

You must contact shuttle this information so they can update that website otherwise a lot of people are going to have headaches.

This is the email I got from Shuttle XPC regarding drivers and support.

Dear Shuttle-customer,

we don't test our barebones with Windows Vista, because
it's only a beta version.

Best regards

The latest Windows Vista BETA, Build No 5465 is now working with my systems.

Highly recommended to upgrade from the Beta 2 edition.
