Xbox games playable on Xbox 360 ?

I bought serious sam 2 (standard xbox game)today coz i love that game and it has live play.
But i put the disc in my Xbox 360 and it said look for an update on xbox.com/games and it wouldn't play

i looked on there and cant find anything about an update.
or what to do, can someone give me some links or advice on what to do because i heard all xbox games play on the 360's

It wont work if its not supported, not all original Xbox games work.
