I have a small problem in Windows 2000, whenever I press the "U" key on my laptop its as if the Windows key is held down - This brings up Utility manager.

If I press "D" (Desktop) or "R" (Run) on there own nothing happens so its not a stuck down Windows key, however Windows key plus "D" or "R" does work. So anyone encountered this before - I can't type my notes up without a working "U" key so help would be much appreciated.

Does your laptop have a "Function/FN" key at all?
Press it once and make sure that it is turned off (There might be a small light like your Num/Caps lock telling you that it is switched on)

Edit: Make/Model please?

might sound a little daft, but try giving the windows key a little whack, as the button under the key could be stuck.

alternatively see if the key lift's off so you can see if it is stuck or not.
