sorry i keep posting questions but i just want to be 100% sure i know what im doing.

im about to order an Acer AL1916WS 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black/Silver (MO-012-AC)

and im worried my current graphics card is going to be too slow.

1. The tft says its resolution is 1440 x 900. Will i have to play games with this?? my pc starts to suffer fps when kicking ass on bf2 with a lot of explosions, dust ect at 1152x864 75hz, which is why im worried it wont handle 1440x900 as well as i need it to.

2. at the moment i have to force on vsync or i get massive loads of tearing. but this also lowers fps. will i have to do this with the tft too?

3. it also says it runs 1440x900 at 60htz, 60HTZ!! WHICH I CANT STAND ON MY CRT!!!!!! will the 60htz on my new tft be as easy on the eye as the 85htz i get on my crt??

i well apreciate any feedback, thanx

yes your card will suffer on the new monitor if your running at its native rez since it has to render more pixels.

odd that your getting battlefield 2 problems cuz my card handles it fine at 1600x1200. i suspect your system has other issues that need addressing first.

bf2 lets you use WS resolutions, you just have to do it manually. its not perfect but better than nothing.
and if youve been playing at 1280x1024 and have been happy, you wont see any performance loss.

1280x1024=1310720
1440x900=1296000

so it will be effectively driving less pixels ;)

120hz lol any point

lol i always thought tripple buffering only takes affect with vsync on, i just played some doom3 with vsync off, tripple buffering on and its so much better, thanx man youve made my day.

anyway this widescreen tft issue, will the 60htz on the tft look flashy compared to the 75htz on my crt?

60htz on my crt is too hard for my eyes.

CSS, easy my 7800GT does at 1680x1050 (7600GT would do this)
BF2, shouldnt be a problem but would still be 50+ on a 7600GT
FEAR, Bit tougher - the 7900GT would handle it but the 7600GT might struggle a little with everything set to high

fear is a system hog so doesnt scale well on lesser hardware, the game is badly put together imo.
i have to be honest here now, with my tft at 60hz i notice no tearing like i did on my old crt monitor, does it even aplly to tft's? im unsure...

i have 20" widescreen LCD monitor, and when i only had single 7600GT it didn't have many problems with playing on monitor, only with lots with high AA and AF, now i have two, the problem has gone :D 7600GT for card of the year :rolleyes:
