Hey guys,

I've got loads of these folders in my Windows folder, each have a name along the lines of $NtUninstallwmp11$ etc..
The writing is also in blue, are these needed still or can they be deleted safely, just curious as im tidying my windows folder up a bit! :)
And also there are log files for each update folder, in notepad format, can these be removed?
Thanks in advance for any help.

yep, all folders of type :

c:\windows\$NtUninstall----$

can be deleted. they are just uninstall files for MS patches

If your all updates went OK, and your system is stable then there is no need to uninstall the patches, so you can delete them.

...why do you want to tidy a system folder to regain 500Mb ?

Yup I delete them no problems. Several hundred MB saved. Also delete files in your

C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Local Settings\Temp

and clear out temporary internet files (update can install download copy to here also)

I take it that means the log files located outside of the folders them selves can be deleted too?
