My pc needs a bit of a boost

Currently i have:
AMD XP2000+
Asus ...600 (forget the full model) 8AGP etc etc
1024mb DDR PC2700 333MHz
80Gb HDD
Saphire Ati Radeon 9600pro

now i'm thinking of doing just a quick upgrade for maybe another year or so until i can go all out and build a decent gaming rig..
i was thinking of

AMD Sempron 3000+ 64 Bit Edition Retail Boxed inc Fan, skt 754
OR
AMD Sempron 3100+ 64 Bit Edition Retail Boxed inc Fan, skt 754 (256 cache)
Asus K8U-X AMD Skt754 ULI M1689 +SATA RAID +LAN SPDIF +6Ch.audio ATX

teamed up with my current bits and bobs..... rough cost £80

At the moment i get about 30-40 fps on cod2 (dx7), 25-30 fps on fear both running in 1024 res, would these new bits make much of a difference? I'm not expecting the earth just a small increase

what do we reckon then chaps, is it worth £80? :p

Looking at your system, it was almost the same as mine.

I had:
AMD XP 2000
1GB DDR PC2700 RAM
ATi X700 Pro 128MB AGP

The AGP card was running in 4x AGP mode as the mobo was really bad but I could quite easily play FEAR and in my books, a computer that can play FEAR is a good computer.

Spend it on a new GFX card, it'd be much better :)

cheers guys...

wouldn't the new gfx card be bottled necked by the current spec?
FEAR is very very GFX dependant, and as to the earlier post, play FEAR at 1600x1200 with 2 x AA/AF with all game settings at max as a minimum to fully appreciate the game, playing on a 9XXX ATI or 5xxxnvidia doesnt do it justice.
