Boot Up Problem

I have just installed Windows XP. I upgraded to SP2 and then when it presented the windows firewall screen I tried to turn the firewall off.

At this point the computer 'blue screened' and when it restarted gave a "can't read disk" error.

Couldn't get round this so decided to reinstall. I did a full format of the disk but now on boot up it thinks I have two WIndows Installations and prompts me to select one.

At first I thought this was down to the boot.ini but couldn't see how because I had reformatted. I checked boot.ini anyway and ther is only one installation.

Any ideas what this could be and how to resolve it.

Cheers,

Nigel
