Number port question

Hi,

I am currently 6 months into my O2 contract, but would like to change my number (long story)

Instead of O2 just supplying me with a new number i would like to transfer an O2 Pay as you go gold number that i own onto my contract account. I know that you can take pay and go numbers onto new contracts, but not sure about existing. Does anybody know if this will be possible?

Probably ring and ask. Orange let you port numbers as and when you like, for example. Vodafone are really fussy, from what I hear - Each network's different.
