Is there an easy way, i just want a rough figure of my motors BHP. Probably at the fly because thats the most popular BHP figure isnt it?

My motor is a 96 VW Polo 1.6 GLX.

Just my mate told me the other day that his Punto has 60 horses, which i thought was a tad low, but i dont actually know my own... so didnt have a leg to stand on.

Any help appreciated.

Ah, 75 sounds about right i think. Parkers states

"Choice of 1.0, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.6 petrol engines, or a 1.9 diesel/turbodiesel. The 1.0 was a 45 bhp unit until September 96, when it was replaced by an all-alloy 50 bhp engine (as in the Seat Ibiza 1.0 MPi); the 1.4 comes as an 8-valve (60 bhp) or 16-valve (100 bhp), and the 1.6 is a basic 75 bhp, with 100 bhp from the 1.6 CL 100, which has a variable intake manifold."

But i reckon mines the ordinary 1.6 engine.

My 1977 Vauxhall cavalier 1.6 had 75hp.
Good to see VW using cutting edge technology 29 years on.

19 years on :p :)

But yeah, volkswagen sold quite a few cars with relatively poor hp per litre. The 2.0 mk4 GTI Golf with its measly 115bhp comes to mind, still can't believe they put the GTI badge on it.
