Always fancies seeing both the big apple and Las Vegas, so early next year plan on visiting both. I'm guessing it would be overall more cost effective to visit both on the same trip? Has anyone done a multi-stop holiday like the above and would you recommend them?

If so, do NYC & LV go hand in hand? Where would be the best place to book a holiday like this? Any other suggestions?

Thanks

it would be a lot easier to do both on the same trip, i`m not sure if you will save on costs, but you will save on travelling time. If it was me I would try and get a direct flight to Vegas 1st then do NY at the back of the trip, the trip home wont seem so long then :)

It wouldn't be better to do it on 2 separate trips IMO. NY has more than enough to keep you busy for weeks. Though if you can afford a long weekend over in Vegas whilst out in NY there are lots of internal flights for a few hundred dollars to Vegas.

Vegas is more of a long weekend destination IMO, maybe a bit longer if you include the Hoover dam and the Grand Canyon. I go to Vegas whenever I go to So. Cal. - it's a long drive, but fun for a weekend. It certainly does't warrant a second trip out there.

what he said.

I go nearly every year and even just going from San Francisco it's a bit of a pain in the bum tbh, but from NY I'd imagine it's worse. There's more than enough to keep you busy for two seperate trips, but a few days in Vegas and you've had enough to be honest. but if you've got your heart set on doing both book your Vegas when you get to NYC. Loads of good deals around for domestic fights and cheap hotel rates that you just cannot get if you book here. I save around 500 quid each time doing it that way.

Did this last year and it can work quite well, basically you book a flight to Las Vegas with a stop-over in New York rather than two seperate flights.

We did
3 Nights in New York
3 Nights in Las Vegas
1 Night Grand Canyon
1 Night Monument Valley
1 Night Lake Powell
2 Nights Bryce Canyon
1 Night Zion National Park (should have been more!)
3 Nights Vegas again ;)
+A weeks hire car for the middle national parks bit.

Total cost was £1300 - bargain of which £700 was the flights so as you can see adding extra days in various locations doesn't add much to the overall price. Fantastic times and an utter bargain in my eyes :)

las vegas is the best! the hotels are huge and theres monorails between them! and when i went i saw britney spears when she was doing a concert at the MGM. they also hand out porn on the streets which is always nice! i've been twice first time i stayed at circus circus and second time at Luxor , i preferd the luxor but both are very very nice! :D

I went to Vegas back in April and thought it was pretty boring to be honest. I don't gamble, and all there is there to do is gamble, unless you want to pay extortionate rates to get into see some of the shows.

As posted earlier, it is fine for a long weekend, but wouldn't spend more than a few days there unless you have $$$$$ to spend (lose).

What about the Grand Canyon? Eating at the strat tower, despite shows being expensive, they are damned good really. Shooting guns? i didnt do much gambling there still found plenty to do, the clubs are well good aswell :)

Yeah thanks guys, I was thinking we'd need more time in NYC than Vegas.
VirginHolidays.co.uk do multi-stop holidays including a NYC/Vegas duo but they only include 4 nights in one (Vegas), three in the other (NYC). This comes in about £850-£900 for early next year which seems good VFM, but ideally would like a couple of nights more.

Anywhere else do tailored multi-stop holidays?

I did 1 week in Las Vegas then 1 week in NY last year. I had a great time, I booked mine on the high street, it cost me £325 for the flights and £500 for the hotels. But I did spend about £2k while I was out there, but it was well worth it as I haven't been to the states before, and wanted to do it in style :)
