I have been asked to look for a laptop for my girlfriends mum.

She doesnt want it to play games, just for herself which will be quick, wireless to the internet if poss, but less than £900 ideally if thats at all possible? Not sure about a weight limit, as she would be mainly using it at home.

Asus Intel Pentium M 735 - XP Home (A6VA-Q017H) (LT-102-AS)
Price: £743.95 (£874.14 Including VAT at 17.5%)

or

Dell Inspiron 6400 Intel Duo Core T2500 - XP Home (N07642) (LT-014-DE)
Price: £769.95 (£904.69 Including VAT at 17.5%)

I'd go for the DELL although its £905inc.

The Asus is cheapest and similar specs..

Depends whether you want to save money or not

have a look on the dell site...

you should be able to shave some money from that budget really... i mean if its just for surfing.

or try a few other "big name" retail shops... i got a pavilion notebook, it has everything, think it was 799/899. intel centrino duo/1gb ram/100gb hdd/bluetooth/wireless - remote control/plenty shortcut keys/dvdrwcdrw.

whatever :p

A Dell 640m would be more than enough if it's just for relatively basic use. I've got the 630m and it's very capable. Not worth spending more than necessary if it's not going to be used to the full potential.
