Right I have had enough now that my 2nd Hyper Type R 580 has blown its time for a different one. Something a little more reliable with decent future scope.

Cheers folks.

Agree with s-pw:

Enermax Liberty 500W ELT500AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU - Price: £59.95 (£70.44 Including VAT at 17.5%)

FSP Sparkle AX500-A Blue Storm 500W ATX2.0 PSU - Price: £49.95 (£58.69 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Seasonic S12 500W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply - Price: £64.95 (£76.32 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Tagan TG530-U15 530W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU - Price: £61.95 (£72.79 Including VAT at 17.5%)

You could even look at the 520W OCZ Modstream, but all the above ones are newer.

I'd probably go with a Tagan 580w myself as it can be set manually to work as a single rail PSU or it can autoswitch if one line is taking too much power and it is supposed to be better for dual graphics card systems if it can do that.

I have a similar spec machine and have just replaced my Hiper 580 with an Enermax Liberty 620w - very happy with the new PSU.

Originally replaced the Hiper with a Seasonic s-12 600w but that failed after 4 days so replaced it with the Enermax - not quite as quiet but looking very stable and still very quiet.

eXtreme PSU Calculator gives a recommended PSU wattage of 488w~659w  (everything running @ 100%). So something tells me the Hiper can't handle because some PSU are marketed with peak wattage which is very hard to sustain :(

From above the obvious suggestion is to go for a 700w PSU but I think that will be unesessary. I'd suggest you get a any of the 580w Tagan's because those are not rated at peak :)

That thing is total BS, do not use it at all.

OCZ 700w/fsp 700w (same thing)
tagan turbojet's

those are the best psu's on the market bar ones you cant get hold of.

Mant thanks to those that replied.

Ended up ordering a Enermax Liberty 620W.

More question to come at the end of the year when upgrade time comes around :D

Regards.
