Just buy one with an internal superdrive and ebay your old USB drive :)

Although I must admit I'm frightened to use my super drive.. it makes scawey noises when it eats the discs :(

I've had a problem with a tray loading drive eating a DVD.. does that mean I should stop using them? Don't be daft.. Macs have been using slot loaders since the iMac.. I'm sure if they all scratched disks they would have stopped by now :)

Your external drive should work just fine though if you want to use it. Unless HP have done something wierd OSX should pick it up as an external writable device. Whether you can use the LiteScribe thingy to draw on the disks is another matter.
