Can anyone give me an idea how much pence it costs an hour to run a plain portable colour tv?

I know some of you maths heads out there can do this easy peasy :D

I was going to say 33watts seems a little low, so I looked on the back of mine... and it says 29 watts :o

Can that be right?!

22 watts / 240 volts = pretty much 0.1 amps, that's next to nothing.

Anything that heats or cools is the real killer - electric heaters, towel rails, high power fans, kettles, electric ovens/hobs, electric water heaters (especially these), fridges/freezers (don't leave the door open!).

Avoid using the tumble drier too, they use a fair old whack of power. If you have an electric shower they use 8-10kw, so if you take ages in the shower thats going to be a huge drain. If your bill really is too high, try energy saving bulbs, turn the fridge and freezer temp down, dont leave anything on standby and dont put your pc under heavy load when it doesn't need to be.
