OcUK Manchester Meet 4 - 20th August 2006

Right, I thought this post could do with a proper update, including proposed route and general information regarding the day itself.

Most of the people know about the MM's, but for the few who've never attended, I thought I'd better some more information put in this thread.

These meets just keep on getting bigger and bigger every time we have them, so with this being the meets' official holiday (a year ago this month since the first one  ) let's try and make it another success.

Sunday 20th August 2006 - Meet at 11am
M62 Eastbound, Services between J18-J19

The day will follow the same pattern as previous meets, and go something like this...

  • Meet up at Service Station, 11am
  • Introduce yourself, take photos, chat about the day ahead, setting off for lunch at 12pm - Carry on down the M62 coming off at junction 22. Take the left turning *watch out for the cattle grid* and follow it round for a few miles. Enter carpark of 'The Turnpike Inn'
  • Have lunch and discuss the day ahead, finish meal around 1:30pm
  • Set off through a small village en route to the 'good roads' - Maps will be provided
  • After running one lap of the 'circuit', proceed to enter another village. When at the junction, turn right. You'll see the large pub on the corner. Car park just behind it.
  • Head off for one more run (probably go back on ourselves to shorten the drive), stopping along the way at the photo opportunity spot, just after dead mans junction
  • At this point, people are free to do as they wish. On the last meet we were at the pub so long that we decided to go home after the photo shoot. Depending on what happens this time, we might go for a photo shoot and then return to the pub for a final goodbye... all depends how the day goes.

While it's all fun to get carried away with fast driving, I don't want to see anyone smash their car up. So please, for both yours and the rest of the groups sake, be careful! No dangerous driving!

It's a month away yet though, plenty of time to find a car :)

You could even do what westy did, and come up on the train to buy a car the day before the meet :D

Was I the only person assuming this thread was "is it time.... to ditch rovers?" :(

Let-down, misleading thread title tbh :(

Oi! Watch your language!

:p

The next Rover thread I make will be "Is it time... to transplant Fox's 530 engine into my Rover"

;)

There seems to be one of these Manchester meets every month :p

Close ;)

This'll be the fourth one in a year!

They just get even more popular every time though. Really is quite a good (read: the best OcUK meet evar!) event :)

El, :p Ok, I'll go edit my main post.

The most popular OcUK Motors Meet is the RR, especially the one just gone, that was mentally busy

The MM meets are definately increasing in size each time, and attracting further and further afield members each time.

Anyway, you have to attend this one Scuzi, seeing as you had to opt out of the RR!

/Checks August roster...

I'm working that morning shift, I don't finish until 1400. I think I'd be cutting it very tight if I tried to get from here to Manchester if I left at 2 :(
