Saw a few minutes of the news tonight, There was some woman from Greenpeace moaning about people drinking bottled water saying that it was bad for the environment due to the transportation of it.
What really gets me is they never campaign about the London boroughs transport scheme that means lorries have to travel miles around the london areas during the restricted hours to get somewhere that was a stones throw from the place they started.

Because all that greenpeace can do is moan. Dont like carbon emissions? Well we will use wind power instead. But that is ugly. OK so we will use nuclear. Oh but that creates toxic radioactive waste. OK you suggest something. Well something thats renewable, isnt ugly, and doesnt produce any undesireable waste. Oh great so basically you dont have a scooby, you just like to winge.

TBH they are just a bunch of moaning hippies who wont be happy till we revert back to the stoneage sitting round camp fires singing hippy songs.

Animal Rights get on my nerves, did anybody hear about the deer they recently "released".

Most, if not all of them ran onto a motorway and were killed. Just a stampede of deer into oncoming traffic.

Also, Mink. There are loads of Mink in the UK now. An animal not native to our shores. They wreck still water's eco systems. How did they get there? Animal "rights" released 1000's of them from a Mink farm up north somewher.

You know whats ironic ?

The amount of greenhouse gas emitted by Greenpeace in its crusade against greenhouse gasses, not to mention the paper used, the energy comsumed by its offices, the fossil fuels burnt by its ships and boats.

And just how do its many hundreds of activists worldwide get to the next protest ? Surely they don't use cars/trains/aircraft ?

Save the environment, ban Greenpeace !

this is the problem with 'extremists' they are blinkered and can only see a 1d view of their subject.

Being completely ignorant to other opinions and views on any subject renders your opinion invalid.

The above examples regarding deer and Mink illustrate this perfectly.

Remember Greenpeace are a company just like any else selling a "product" so they have to be seen to be doing something to get people to give them money. And it doesn't really matter if what they are doing is justified or what they even say is backed up by facts, as long as it gets them publicity.

but a company selling bad news and general grumpiness! Whilst consuming large amounts of the resources they say they so deseprately want to preserve.

That's the point, ultimately it's not about the environment, it's about making sure they have funds coming in the door.

You mean like, er, drinking tap water instead of bottled water?

Greenpeace thought of that did they? :p

I was thinking more along the lines of power generation/transport where whatever progress is made folks from gp always pick fault. Classic cases of NIMBY imo

You said "ultimately it's not about the environment, it's about making sure they have funds coming in the door" which is obviously not the case. If they were only interested in funds coming in the door they would not be registered as a non-profit organisation; they would be registered as a company.

If it's not about the environment, what is it about? They cannot solely be interested in money as their stated economic aim is to not make any profit.

example well ok, their stance generally on nuclear power, they don't want it and according to greenpeace the existence of said power stations is a most heinous crime. They are not very happy with blair for saying there should be a new generation of Nuclear power stations built, this despite the fact that we are, quickly, running short of ideas as to how our future energy needs are going to be met. Yet they suggest what as an alternative? Consider that we need forms of generation that can consistently supply a load on the National Grid. Just my take on the situation.
