Well, 19" TFT's have the same max res as 17" TFT's (1280x1024). That is unless you want a widescreen one (1440x900 I believe).

The Hans OCUK widescreen and the acer Wide screen around around 150 or so I believe, both being very good value for money. If you want a regular monitor though, I not so certain I only really researched about widescreens. :)

High res = larger panel. You will not find a panel that display's 1600 x 1200 on a 19"

The max you will get on a 19" is 1280 x 1024 of WS 1440 x 800.

If you want a really good monitor for your PC then get the Acer 19" Widescreen or the Hanns WS. Both res @ 1440 x 800 the only difference being that the Hanns as DVI and VGA. I have just bought 2 Hanns WS for presents. The recipients are more than pleased with the performance, especially as they can run both there PC's and Xbox's using this monitor.

There cheap too.. if you want higher res... look at the 20" market. There are a few available at that budget!!!

Are you sure that you are running in 1440x800? cause on OCuk it says it should run native at 1440x900? or did ya miss type?

Or if you really don't want to spend any more but want a slightly higher res (1400x1050) and the larger screen size you could get this:

there are of course "flat screen" CRT's which would enable OP to use higher res

Dont get me wrong, I think from what he said he was after a TFT - but there are plenty of CRT's available for that budget that could do really hi res
