I am thinking of upgrading my cpu, here is my current spec.

AMD 64 SCKT 939 3000+ (Venice Core)
Gigabyte Nforce3 250Gb Motherboard
2GB PC3200 DDR RAM (OCUK VALUE)
AUDIGY 2 ZS PLATINUM PRO SOUND CARD
Zalman CNPS9500-AM2 Aero Flower CPU Cooler (works with 939)
NEC 3520AW DVD-RW
VIEWSONIC VX922 (another ocuk buy :D)
CREATIVE T7700 7.1 SPEAKERS
2 X 160 MAXTOR 7200RPM 8MB CACHE SATA HD'S (RAID-0)

It is used for video/dvd authoring, games and the occasional linux escapade.
Budget is £90 inc vat with delivery. OEM's are ok since i already have a decent cpu cooler

I would say that you need to decide whats going to be best for you.

The:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA3800BVBOX) (CP-134-AM)

Price: £94.95 (£111.57 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Would be better for video/dvd authoring (So Long as its a Multithread app) but is going to offer limited increase in games with only having a 200Mhz increase for single thread apps over your current 3000+.

get an X2-3800, will stretch that budget a little, but I would say it is well worth it.
If not get a San Diego 3700, the one thats on offer at the moment.
Not worth getting the 4000 instead, have a couple of pints, money well spent ;)
