Fantasy writer Gemmell dies at 57

Fantasy novelist David Gemmell, best known for stories such as Legend and Waylander, has died at the age of 57.

Gemmell had heart bypass surgery two weeks ago and appeared to be making a good recovery, according to his publisher Transworld.

I didn't know he was only 57, sad news indeed. I first read Legend back when I was in college, and I've always enjoyed reading his books. The world of fantasy literature is a poorer place with his passing.

darn thats depressing Ive got about 10 of his books on my shelf

the first one I ever bought was called Legends , brilliant book and Ive read it 4 or 5 times now and you know what I think Ill read about druss again in tribute to the author

no, i'm not familiar with that tim curry film but legend (his first novel published in 1984) was never made into a film.
