connecting digilogic freeview box to dell 2407

I'm having no luck getting a picture on the monitor, it keeps saying no signal. I bought a scart adaptor breaks out in to audio L&R + s-video + composite. I've tried comp + s-vid and its the same for both of them but its working fine on the tv in the lounge

I got it working on composite ok now but i still can't get it working on the svideo input. Would the difference in quality be noticable? I noticed if i left it on s-video for a while it ocasionally flickered a bit of a garbled display on screen but not display it properly at all. Comes up fine on the TV though, I don't get it.
