No Sound****Please help!!!!!!!

Hi Everyone

I have recently built a pc nothing that special but wanted it to be a low cost one here's the spec:

AMD A64 3000+ venice skt939 @ 2.58ghz
Arctic freezer 64 pro
Asus A8N-E
Nvidia ge-force 6600GT
Thermaltake silent power 430watt psu

I have got the drivers but there still is no sound and it says there is no device.

I dont think there is anything wrong with the motherboard as the person I bought it from had an opty 146 in it and the sound was fine.

Any help is realy apretiated

So youve downloaded the latest drivers and installed them yet it still says unknown device?

If you go into Control Panel then Sounds and then the Audio tab what does it say the prefered device is for playback?

Also is it enabled in the BIOS? The guy you bought it off may have had a soundcard in there so may have turned the onboard off.

Obvious I know, but have you checked it is turned on in the BIOS (assuming onboard)?

Hi There

it is onboard and is swiched on in the bios and the person i bought it of did not have a sound card in it and in the audio tab in sound i cant click on anything is all faded. I have no idea what it cold be.
