Additional filters option on router

I have Linksys AG241 router and I noticed these options, what are these useful for?

They are Filter Proxy, Filter Cookies, Filter Java Applets and Filter ActiveX.

Filter Proxy - (n/a) blocks users from using open proxies to bypass access controls
Filter Cookies - stops sites requesting cookie info
Filter Java Applets - stops applets from being downloaded
Filter ActiveX - stops activeX from being downloaded

I'd use firefox and not bother enabling any of those controls
(as you could end up with sites not working and wondering what's going on)
