Guys,
putting together a X6800 Conroe setup (only went for the Extreme because I was getting it at half-price)..
More than likely I'll be pairing it with an ASUS P5W DH......just wondering it anybody had any recommendations on the memory.....2x1gb sticks definitely..
Was thinking of going the whole hog with either OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8000 or Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-8500C5
Is it really worth going with at least PC2-8000 stuff or dropping down to 6400 ?
Obvioulsy will want to overclock, but after running an A64 setup with Ballistix memory, I'm interested in stability as much.
Hearing a lot of people praising the Gskill stuff, anybody else have any experience with these sticks on Conroe yet?

Cheers

It is highly unlikely that you will require the PC2-8000 with an X6800 on an unlocked multiplier since there will be no real need for going over 400FSB.
The Gskill stuff seems to be the best currently, the HZ kit getting a lot of praise everywhere.

G.sKill 6400 HZ - it uses Micron D9 chips which clock past 1000mhz (PC2-8000). Only later batches do this though (0605 onwards but OcUK stock the correct stuff).

Cheers for the replies guys,
how are they normally for stability ?.........I know theres a lot of factors when putting together systems, but the one thing I don't want is any possiblity of memory compatibility issue like I had with the A64..
I still get the odd restart which is very hard to pin down :(
