Can anyone who has experience with this ASUS motherboard let me know if I can install XP onto two 36GB Raptors in Raid0 and then have a futher HD (or two) connected up so that they aren't in RAID?

I've tried but keep getting stuck / lost / confused.

Thanks.

yes the intel chipset can do raid 0 or raid 1 not both as it has only
2 sata ports on the intel ich5r

the other 2 sata ports are on the promise controller
make sure you set up boot order in bios
you install the drivers by F6 then supply it with floppy
during the start up at windows setup screen

the promise controller has 2 drivers one for raid one for
single mode jbod.

It can be done, use the intel controller, it's faster than the promise.

First set up your raid array, CTRL-I on boot.

In Bios under MAIN / IDE CONFIGURATION set,

Configure sata as raid [yes]
Serial ata bootrom [enabled]

under BOOT/HARD DISK DRIVES set,

1ST DRIVE Intel controller (whatever you called your array)

BOOT DEVICE PRIORITY Intel controller (whatever you called your array) This is not selectable here if not set as 1st drive first.

To run 2 more drives SATA you will have to set up the promise controller

In BIOS

ADVANCED
Onboard Promise controller [enabled]
Operating mode [IDE]

Hope that helps
