Compatibility with DS3

I've been reading that some memory, particulary memory at CL4 is being forced to run by the DS3 at CL3 latencies, which means that it won't boot. Can someone tell me whether this will affect the G. Skill NR PC2-6400, which has CL5 latencies? Thanks.

Ive used that ram in the DS4 and its a big no no. Get something else

Oh. That's a bit of a shame then. Is it all 800MHz RAM that is affected by this or can I still use some?

Edit: Don't worry, I've found the supported list. As an aside, what would be better, some Corsair XMS2 RAM running at 800MHz with 5-5-5-12 timings, or some Geil RAM running at 667MHz but with 4-4-4-12 timings? Thanks in advance.

Go for the Corsair XMS2 RAM running at 800MHz with 5-5-5-12 timings.

All the problems of which I've been hearing effect the DS4. Are we assuming that the DS3 is effected as well or is this pure speculation?

Nevermind, I just read from EKsparky that he's got the Corsair XMS2 C5 kit working on his DS3.

On the DS3 product page on the Gigabyte website there is a link to the list of compatible memory, or at least, the ones that Gigabyte are sure will work.

No it does also effect the DS3, much to my annoyance.

Is this the kind of thing that can be fixed with a BIOS update once one is written or is it more serious than that?

They are working on a bio's fix at the moment i believe i seem to be alright with the OCZ memory i'm using in my DS3 though.

I think G.Skill and other brands are doing something on their part to make sure their DDR2 kits are ok.
