sorry but the 7600GT is faster than 6800GT/ultra, i have two in SLI and each one gets over 7100 3D mark '05, bearing in mind there both overclocked quite a lot :p
And an X1900GT is about as fast as an X1800XT. That would pan a 7600GT so hard it's not even worth considering.

ooo wow. A single X1900GT can bust through 10k easily. As can a X1800XT.

But 3Dmark05 performance should not be why you buy a card. Even then the X1900GT will be quite a way in front of the 7600GT.

for god sake, when the hell did i once mention a X-whatever? i was refering to the post saying the 7600GT is between GT and ultra, sheesh always so quick to jump to conclusions
I said the X1900GT is about as fast as an X1800XT, which means the X1900GT pans a 7600GT very hard.

did i remotely mention anything about that or am i going loopy or something?
You said that the 7600GT is faster than a 6800GT or 6800 Ultra, I was just pointing out how that's completely moot as this thread is about the 7600GT vs. the X1900GT, not the 6800 anything.

A fair comparison would be at stock speeds and in real games not 3DMark. Review of 7600 GT here which puts it around 6800 Ultra speed. 7600 GT wins in some games, 6800 Ultra wins in others-

Thats nice & all but i dont think that is what this thread was about.

Anyway, the X1900GT still blows the 7600GT (& 6800Ultra) out of the water in terms of performance.

yes i would love the X1800 but its to big mate .it to long and to wide its fan would be touching my sound card
Given this reply early in the thread why has the thread degenerated into a pointless and stupid arguement? This seems to happening more and more in here. I have to assume some people just don't actually read the whole thread they just troll through looking for an argument - GROW UP!

End of rant!

7600gt is fast enough for me and at a good price point. The ATI ones you're looking at are at a completely different pricing bracket so it would really depend on how much you're willing to spend and how often you upgrade.

You'll notice a nice performance difference over an X800 128MB, but if you can stretch your budget for an X1800XT or X1900GT then I would advise it as they will cope much easier in the home stretch toward DirectX 10, keeping in mind that DirectX 10 games other than Crysis won't be showing up until later next year.

Crap I forgot you were talking about the size of the board, sorry. If you don't think the board will fit then go for a 7600GT, you won't get as good performance but then again you won't get any performance from a board that won't fit.

As for Windows stuff, you won't notice any difference on the desktop unless you get Vista. The ATI cards are usually better for stuff like video encoding and TV/camera in/out jobbies due to the AVIVO technology from what I have heard though.
