Drilling out rivets?

I've got some 6mm rivets I need to drill out. I'm not too fussed about the state of the holes when I've finished as I'm going to use some bolts and nuts upon replacement for ease of removal next time.

Any tips - or is it a case of drilling through the things until you get to the other side, then using a hammer or whatever to get the remainder of the rivet out?

With a pop rivet you can just drill off the head and the other half usually drops out. Normally the blighters decide to start spinning so you have to get a hold of the head with some pliers as you drill it.

Yep, always drilling the blighters out. Depends on the if the rivet has been painted over. They may be just enough to hold it. If you can't hold the back, try at an angle, but be careful because when the head pops off the drill may slip. Once the head has gone, use a punch and tap out the back.
