I know this probably wont matter much to most people, but was just browsing the net and noticed that BT aka Brian Transeau, is releasing a new album on September 4th called "This Binary Universe".

I hadnt been following BTs stuff for a while so it came as a surprise to me that he was releasing another album so soon.

Apparently its DVD & CD, which includes video to go with the music, also in 5.1 too. Check the trailers below for a sneak peak.

I've pre-ordered mine, it was only £12.99 so not bad considering the DVD too.

http://www.bt-network.org/tbu_trailer.swf <--- flash trailer (can go larger etc)

http://www.thisbinaryuniverse.com/ <--- Main site

Not much on the sites, but if you know BT there are other sites with forums that have more info.

And no, I dont work for them, just thought some on here would be interested to know thats all, from the short vid it does seem good, longer tracks, I'm hoping different to the slightly commercialised ET album and more along the lines of IMA/ESCM stuff. The forums seem to suggest this too.

Glad someones a BT fan,

Xpander, Im in exactly the same position as you, his earlier stuff was great, so Im hoping this new album will return to that style of music, as I mentioned, there are only around 7-8 tracks, which mean longer tracks so I hope that means a change of direction in his style.

johnson, I would recommend his earlier work, its less mainstream as more recent stuff.

Heres hoping Im not dissapointed, but from the vid it does look good. :)

Love BT and have been waiting very impatiently for this album!! The trailer looks and sounds fantastic it's just a shame i wont be able to hear it in its full 5.1 surround goodness. Also looking forward to his co-produced album with Tiesto, quite a busy year for Mr Transeau it seems!!

Very long shot but if any of you BT fans have got a recording of his laptop symphony from melbourne 2003 and are willing to upload it for me i will perform ANY sexual favour you name :p It's the set where someone pulled the power cord on his laptop by mistake so he started improvising on a keyboard while the laptop was booting up

Sorry, not got the Melbourne one, got some live mixes from Washington and Gatecrasher, think Gatecrasher was 2000, not sure on the Washington one.

Mainly mixes I think

Ive got some movies, Flaming June, Remember (Not great quality on that one), the "Lost Footage" one and one where he is I think at a promo and showing some stuff on his laptop.

Lost Footage is good as it shows how he works with his Mac etc.

Hmm, unfortunately not, unless its kicking around on some specialist dj site, a few years ago I knew a guy in the states that had everything of BTs, loads of different mixes etc, lost contact with him now.

As his stuffs not that mainstream then its hard to get hold of some things.

I bought some of the American versions of his albums when I went to the states a while ago, thats about it really.

Bah, had a listen to the album, pretty dissapointing, more chill-out style with an overdose of BT stutter editing.

Not what I was expecting or hoping for, cancelled my pre-order :(

Thought I would warn people.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest unfortunately. I think doing all those film scores has effected his main work! And that 'stutter' edit thing is soooo 2003. Wonder what the DVD is like that comes with the album?

Also... Interesting to note that Somnambulist from Emotional Technology has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the most vocal edits!

You know, I was going to re-edit my post and say the same thing about film scores, as thats what the album sounds like to me, some incidental bg music .

Its not that the music is bad, I've listened to it twice and even though I wish it would turn up the pace a bit its good for some bg music in the house.

I think and have always known that he is a seriously talented guy and I wish him all the best, but its not what I really want to listen to or what I expect from him (well hope anyway)

Id also like to complain about the trailer they made, as its completely different to the rest of the album tempo wise, set it up as sounding like it will be an epic album then pffft. Really mis-sold it IMO.

Still wondering what the dvd would be like as you said, but I really cant be bothered sitting through fairly melancholic music to watch it :D

PS doesnt surprise me on the Somnambulist thing, I was suprised it came in at No.1 in the US tho....

This Binary Universe is pretty much like the previews they have on amazon or other sites, its chillout style with stutter edits thrown in, some piano etc.

BTs older stuff is a lot better, but may sound a bit old these days.
