x1900xt 256 edition

According to The Register (not the best source, i know)
ATI will also unveil the rumoured Radeon X1900 XT board with 256MB of memory - the CPU is currently available on 512MB boards. Pricing data we've seen puts it at $279/€249.

Any news on the card appearing any time soon, i was planning to order a 1800xt tommorow, and was wondering whether to hang around before ordering.

I know, but the option of a cut price x1900xt instead of the GT is very tempting to say the least. I do not know wehter to order tonight or wait, it seems very unlikely they will appear tommorow in the store, but you never know

I would imagine just ram, it would have the same core. Its like the differance between the x1800xt 256 and the x1800xt 512.

Not going to bother waiting for it, Gibbo quoted a price of 159 + vat, which is not worth waiting for with the x1800xt at such a cracking price.

Its a strange product. Something ATI intended to release when the X1900 first launched. Well in fact they did but Etail/Retail never saw such cards. But now ATI have inventry they need to shift and hence this product. It will be very short lived, probably will only be around for a month and then dissapear again.

Expect pricing of the X1900 XT 256 to be around £155 - £165+VAT dependent on dollar rates. So in comparison to the X1800 XT 256MB at £125+VAT and the X1900 XT 512 at £179+VAT there is not really any need for this card. It literally is just a stop gap until the X1950 XT 256 comes through in October which will be around £179-£199+VAT. :)
