Hello.

Currently I am at uni meaning that I am away from my beloved piano as it's still at home. I will be away for at least another 3 years.

I guess a cheap way for me to at least stay in practice would be for me to buy a keyboard. It doesn't have to be amazing - just good enough to keep dexterity in my fingers and do a bit of practice. It does need to be cheap however, as i'm a poor student on a budget.

Any good websites or shops which I should check as you guys know your stuff.

Thanks

Chris

I think this would be pretty decent for what you're wanting: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=69045 88 keys and has 'grand piano' action apparently, I'm not sure if that means fully weighted or not.

I know these are supposed to be good if you've got more to spend: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=66874

Expensive..but has 88 fully weighted keys, 128 note polyphony and if the piano sounds are anything like those on my fantom x8 you'll be very impressed. Harmony central has a synth user review section which will give you some opinions.

Does your uni have a music department?

If so, i cant see it being a problem if you used one of their practise rooms in the evening. This also means you get to play a proper piano instead of a keyboard, and would save you some money :)

You could try picking up an old Roland FP3 on an auction site - it'd be a real cut above any of the cheap Yamahas, and probably not that different in price. Do you need something with speakers built-in or would you be happy to use headphones?

The practice room suggestion is also a good one, if your university allows non-music students to use them.
