Ok guys, please help me out!

1st build: POST fine, I install windows...

Every time it needs to reboot during windows installation it 'hangs' and I have to manually reboot.

Once windows installed, when I try to power off it will partially shutdown, but leave a blank screen with fans funning, and the disk LED pulsing.

Given this was happening even before windows was properly installed, I guess the problem is BIOS related or a hardware fault.

Sometimes, when booting up, I get a blank screen until the Windows User account screen appears.

I've ensured all power management options in the BIOS are enabled.

Intel Core duo 6600
ASUS P5N32 SLI deluxe
Crucial Ballistix DDR2 PC2-5300 • 3-3-3-12 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 2.2V • 128Meg x 64
Gainward GeForce 7900GT 512mb x1
Enermax noisetaker EG701AX (600W)

My thanks in advance.

I would try going into the BIOS and disabling some of the onboard peripherals like onboard sound and lan etc. obviously dont disable the usb if u r using usb mouse or keyboard.

once windows is installed try enabling these one at a time

Might be worth checking your memory voltage in bios, some boards do not set the correct voltage automatically.

Welcome to the forums, post back with an update.
This was the case with mine (and my friends) ASUS motherboards - A8N-SLi Deluxe and A8N-SLi Premium respectively.

Thanks for all the replies... the prize goes to J.B!

Disabling my Samsung SATA DVD RW drive did the trick.

Now I have to work out how to get the DVD working. May try the SATA II socket.
