Forcing Boot from CD? Recovery question

My Vaio's recovery disc tells me to reboot with the disc in the drive in order to recover the system, but i do so and it ignores the disc.

So i'm left without any recovery options :confused:

Any ideas? I think the drive could be having trouble reading the DVDs, works with CDs though

Press the button to open the boot menu while its doing POST.. F12 usually. Dunno about the Vaios.

changed boot order in BIOS? also drive is a DVD drive not a CD drive yeah?

you need to set the cdrom to a boot device in the bios.

The CD drive is set to boot first on the boot order

But it doesnt trigger a recovery :confused:

Yep, drive is a DVD drive, although it has had a little trouble with DVDs as of late.

Which leaves me a bit screwed and out of option for recovery

what model DVD drive does it have? have you tried doing the rescue thing from within windows?
