Need to soften my beard!

Does anyone know of products that soften it? She downright refuses to let me shave it but I can tell it irritates her skin a lot. In her own words:

"Proper men have beards"

I was thinking about baby shampoo or something similar, most of the other products I've seen purely soften the beard temporarily so you can shave

Grow it longer. Then it'll be soft.

I have a tough or coarse hair texture and no matter what i use, there isnt any change - only temporary.

I think you gonna have to learn to live with it.

Shave it off and use a sporran when she's around.

You need to be able to use it to light matches. REAL men can use it instead of sandpaper.

clinique have a post shave beard soother that claims to make the beard less thick. tried it for about 2/3 weeks didnt notice anyhthing. give it a go tho.

My ex always claimed that going down made mine softer.

Not meaning to boast, but that may not be the real reason!
