Engine Oil over filled

Hi,

Just bought a car, but the muppet who previsouly owned it has filled it with too much oil (about half an inch over the max mark), short of draining the whole engine from the sump, can anyone think of a clever way to pump/syphon out a pint or so ?

get a pump (forgotten the proper name for it)... basically acts like a suction/vacuum which you can attach to top of the 'oil-level-checker-pullyout-thingy' pipe which leads to the sump. thats how i did mine anyhoo.

you would proberble siphon it out with a long enough bit of v-thin tubeing - or slowly undo the sump plug for a short while - kinda messy thou!

Whats a sock?

Pump sounds the best way, but after buying one, i might as well have just paid £15 for an change of oil I guess. Undoing the sump plug will make a right mess i reckon :/

im probably wrong as i know nothing about cars... BUT i THINK hes onabout a actual sock as in for your feet to absord and drain the oil?

No, if you ever lose your oil cap, they make a great temp replacement.
