There are quite a lot of variations of this card - but i have just purchased the BFG PCI-E 256mb, 575mhz gpu, 800mhz memory version for £43 (probably get it cheaper i know but was buying a whole load of other stuff so postage blahh...)

Anyway before you all jeer at how bad this card is - i don't play games, but i am still interested to know how this card compares to my old AGP - a 128mb 9800pro with arctic cooling which was quality at the time. Sold it on the 'bay for about £35 the other week so in terms of price they are about the same.

thanks

depends, if the 7300gs is the 8 pipe version with 128bit memory interface then it will be faster than the 9800pro.

if its the 4 pipe 64bit memory interface then :p :p :p

your best option would have been the 7300gt or a 7600gs.

256MB BFG Technology 7300GS, PCI-E (x16), Mem 800 MHz, GPU 575 MHz, D-Sub/DVI-I/HDTV

-don't think it has 8 pipes - but still more than good enuff for my needs i.e. no games.

Thanks for the comparisons tho :p

If you needed a new card which had to be PCI-E, and you don't game, then I see no problem with your choice at all. In fact, it's not like it'll stop you from playing every game - games like Half Life 2, COD 1 and UT2004 will still play great on it at fairly good settings.
