I personally think the security at british airport is poo compared to e.g Russia and China.
I had to go through various checkpoints and fill out various forms in Beijing. When I landed in Heathrow (7th August) I was very surprised because I only had to fill out 1 form and show my passport to the Immigration officer didn't even see the metal detector or the x-ray.

I certainly didn't get my luggage scanned ariving in moscow, though it was acouple of years ago. I've never come across anywhere in the world where you do, what would be the point when you've come off the plane?

Diplomats is very weird, they can search their person to some extent but their luggage is invioble, they simple can't search it, it's a breach of international law if they have a diplomatic passport
Sensible precautions really, but a tad annoying, as I found out today that I'm going to Toronto on Sunday for a week for work. No way I'm putting my camera in the hold without a hard case, and I can't afford/haven't got time to buy one!

Get a hardcase for your camera with a lock on, you can get decent secure ones for about 60-70 quid, can't remember where i saw them though....

Also, depending on where you're going (ie. the US) locked hold luggage can be broken open by security officers if they feel the desire. There is a special padlock available to which they have the master key to avoid this though.

im flying on sunday, will i be able to take my camera, i havent bene following whats been going on. im on ryanair, have the restricitons been lifted?
Your camera in hand luggage will be fine - just make sure the bag is within the size dimensions.Diskbox said:
