Attempted my 1st build tonight and.......nothing no fan no beeps nowt.

Help !!!

Specs are..

Asrock AliveNF4G
64 3500
Antec NSK440 with PSU
Geil DDR2 PC5300
7600GT

I am fine about all the connection apart from the System Panel Header

In the Manual it states it as follows

PLED+ / PLED - / PWRBTN# / GND / NO PIN
HDLED+ / HDLED- / GND / RESET# / DUMMY

From the front of the case I have the following

HDD LED 2 PINS
RESET SW 2 PINS
POWER LED 3 PINS
POWER SW 2 PINS

Could anyone confirm what goes where.

Also what would be the kind of step by step testing I should do to get this
thing working.

They do say a little knowledge is dangerous.

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Cheers

Suspect the system panel headers could be inserted the wrong way especially Power SW. Make sure you get the terminals right, the manual (PDF here) & Google are your best friend for that. ASRock, unlike other manufactures, are too lazy/cheap to colour-code them. Caught me out, a seasoned PC builder :o

Also, make sure all the power cables that need to be plugged-into the motherboard are in & secure. Also check if everything is sitting 'right', especially the CPU. Oh, & fans! Some systems have been known not to boot up if no fan connected (mostly CPU fan).

Thank for the reply's

Swapped some about and powered it up....and the fan spun round

Took all the other stuff out in disgust last night so I am just going to cable
everything up now.

It was the jumpers that was wrong its - really stupid as i have 4 pins to
connect a 2 hole power sw and a 3 hole Power LED so one of the LED one is
not connected at all - seems strange.

Anyway I will post back with the next problem shortly no doubt.

I take it that u getting the first one. The memory voltage may be a bit low.

1 short DRAM refresh failure The programmable interrupt timer or programmable interrupt controller has probably failed
2 short Memory parity error A memory parity error has occurred in the first 64K of RAM. The RAM IC is probably bad
3 short Base 64K memory failure A memory failure has occurred in the first 64K of RAM. The RAM IC is probably bad
4 short System timer failure The system clock/timer IC has failed or there is a memory error in the first bank of memory
5 short Processor error The system CPU has failed
6 short Gate A20 failure The keyboard controller IC has failed, which is not allowing Gate A20 to switch the processor to protected mode. Replace the keyboard controller
7 short Virtual mode processor exception error The CPU has generated an exception error because of a fault in the CPU or motherboard circuitry
8 short Display memory read/write error The system video adapter is missing or defective
9 short ROM checksum error The contents of the system BIOS ROM does not match the expected checksum value. The BIOS ROM is probably defective and should be replaced
10 short CMOS shutdown register read/write error The shutdown for the CMOS has failed
11 short Cache error The L2 cache is faulty
1 long, 2 short Failure in video system An error was encountered in the video BIOS ROM, or a horizontal retrace failure has been encountered
1 long, 3 short Memory test failure A fault has been detected in memory above 64KB
1 long, 8 short Display test failure The video adapter is either missing or defective
2 short POST Failure One of the hardware testa have failed
1 long POST has passed all tests

Yup its the first one.

Sorry for all the questions but how do I go about fixing that..

The sticker on the Ram states 1.8v

And the manual is poor to say the least.

The only other jumper i see is the ps2 usb pw1 which is set to +5vsb instead
of +5 v

Building this for someone and I am going to be out of pocket if it dont work :(
