Is it going to be that ridiculous to control? Or even to put your foot down? Surely when going in a straight line it should be 'ok' with traction to put your foot down.

On the 'funnl' you're looking at...

...Or at the end of a length of tubing attached to that hole.

Thanks :)

That big funnel (on the left) after the exhaust manifold is to keep a constant pressure of exhaust gas on the turbo to keep it spinning. It's like a big pulse convertor.

You must also remember that its the converted heat energy that spins a turbo up, and not just the gas pressure after it has left the manifold. :)

I'm a bit of a newbie to engines :) Where does the air get sucked in? Im assuming through the turbine but I can't see how a filter will be put onto it, or doesnt it?

Looks nice anyway :D

The air gets sucked in from the "hole" in the turbo that is facing you in the picture. Normaly you would have some trunking and a a filter attached to this.

Not sure why people are so amazed at the manifold, it's just a 4-1 manifold, albeit with a large collector.

I find it impossible to get excited about turbo manifolds... :/

A beautifully crafted tuned-length manifold for a high-revving N/A engine though...Art! ;)

Case in point. If a simple manifold works for a Formula car, it's good to go :D

Nice engine, shame he's going to waste it on a horrible old Escort. Either do it properly old skool and put it in a Mk2 or something, or pick an actually half decent car to put it into, rather than an old banger.
don't you think that RST's are on the verge of becoming old skool?
they're certainly not a common site on the road anymore and that's a good start to becoming old skool/classic.

Excuse me - But RS Turbo's are very nice cards!! :p

Anything RS has all ways done really well ;)
if it's a series 2 it's not an RS car anyway ;)

Few things:

LAG
Torque steer
Wheel spin
Slower and less useable than a 200bhp FWD car
Waisted in that car

On the other hand good luck to him as id love to see it work well for him. There have been silly powered FWD cars before that put it all down to tarmac. Ive been in a 300bhp one and it was quick but scarily unpredicatable.
