I never tried out what the Canon lens can do. But I think the next best lens is the Sigma 50-150mm F2.8. I do like my Sigma, its sharp and produces similar shots to the cheap and cheerful 50mm F1.8

Can you use the Canon 70-200mm lens for sport shots?

Very nice busterboy.
Can't wait to take my baby out to Richmond park during easter break.

The 70-200 F/4 is just amazing! So compact, very light and less attention grabbing then f2.8 for those candid shots. :D

not the most interesting but I love the colour and sharpness

Perhaps I should have bought a better quality UV?

Certainly would recommend you do that. You bought an expensive lens, if you buy a cheap filter then you're adding an element to that lens which will make it slower and more prone to flare (if it's not multicoated).

/wanders off to spend more hard-earned

Super HMC - Pro 1 Filters 67mm cost as little as £21.99 from Hong Kong. Or you could just keep the hood in place and not worry.

I bought a 77mm one for my new 10-22 and it's already saved the front of the lens twice in the three days I've had it! Wouldn't have broken the front element, but it's better to clean the filter than the front element in my opinion. Super wide angle lenses are more at risk because their front elements protrude outwards and the hood doesn't offer a lot of protection.
