hi all
i know the gigabyte ds3 comes recommended, but are there any cheaper options that will enable me to get the c2d 4300 to 3ghz?

having read a few threads im under the impression that its a fairly straightforward overclock and so im hoping basic 6400 ram and cheapish mobo will be up to the job?

Well the Gigabyte S3 is £10 cheaper than the DS3 and is exactly the same in spec and features. Only the DS3 has solid capacitors or something that doesn't really matter anyway.

The DS3 is fine for the E4300, but again if you dont want to spend as much then you may as well go for something the exact same but cheaper. But if you can afford the DS3 then you may as well go for it :)

I have a DS3P (cost me £75 inc vat) which get's my 4300 to 3.4ghz easily and that's 8 hours Orthos stable. It will run at 3.6ghz but i have'nt run Orthos as the NB was very warm. Dropped it back to 3.2ghz now and waiting for my NB block to arrive.
