Yes. It's as bad as being murdered because it murders your soul dontcha know.

Laughable :)

Ok... very funny :p What I meant was...... a person feels deprived. Maybe that's a more appropriate word... that way you don't have to think about what I am meaning.

No, it's not. It's a belief, and one that many rape victims could associate with. Maybe adopt a more mature attitude on such a sensitive subject.

I think a 'mature' attitude could be talking about the subject frankly and not embellishing or dramatising it.

I don't agree with this invention at all. Not only is it completely impractical but you actually have to be raped for it to work, not to mention the repercussions if the rapest recovers from it quickly enough to stop the girl escaping.

My biggest fear however is the fact that women may feel this is a good way at getting back at sexual partners. I've known several nutters who would be exactly the sort of people to do this in a troubled relationship.

My last girlfriends final action was a swift kick to the crown jewels.

Its a toss up between doing something, and doing nothing. If those that disagree with it have a better idea on the situation then its very welcome. As a South African it saddens me no end to hear that my country has been reduced to having to invent devices like this to try and protect the population at large. If the police force actually did anything to aprehend criminals, and those criminals stayed in jail for longer than a few days before escaping or being let lose for a small bribe it may help but the mindset is "do the crime and dont bother with the time". Whether this device will help or not will remain to be seen, but something has to be done and its at least a step in the right direction.

i can just picture the headline now

man's penis renderd usless by dead womans rape guard

instead of

stupid slapper wearing a tissue and her knockers hanging out got a good ******* for walking around undressed.

not that im saying women deserve it for wearing nothing but i think there is a good percentage of people who just regret it afterwards and cry rape..
its a very touchy subject.. same as the question can a man be raped nearly all women will say no they cant... they say it has to be hard to work and if you were so scared it wouldnt work... im sorry but play with it long enough and it will work either that or if the man isnt strong enough to stop the woman raping him then she could get viagra in him...

rant over

So all they have to do is check if their victim has one and remove it, I don't think this is going to help at all.

It would be a shocking thing to feel you have to use everyday. Realistically, most people struggle to even contemplate the full act of rape. To feel you need to put this thing on inherently means there's a very real chance it could get to the penetrative stage. An awful thing for any woman to have to pragmatically contemplate and take action against.

Good point.

They would have laughed at this idea in the Dragon's Den. And not in a good way.

It's a riduclous idea that will not only be checked for by potential rapists (as mentioned) - but one that will lead to more dangerous circumstances for the victim if and when it does, 'do its job'.

One newspaper title: 'Rapist kills person after getting their packer knawed into by the ghastly teeth of the anti-rape device' and the product will be as good as dead.

Ok, so the idea made me wince... but others make very good points... I would expect it to be very easy to detect and damn uncomfortable to wear.

Not to mention the psychological damage that you are doing just admitting that you are so likely to be raped that you felt you had to wear one all the time.

That said I would be quite happy to see a vigilante group of south african women emasculating every rapist they got their hands on till the general population got the message.

This is already done in townships and rural areas, but then the townsfolk are arrested and jailed. The criminals are the ones who rule the roost in South Africa... I may sound pessamistic but 20 years of living there will do that to you.

Yes, I was the victim of some astonishingly poor rapping once. I was forced to tell the man to stop singing after a while. Quite awful.
