Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit installed only 3gb ram reconised?

Hi,

Just installed 4gb Ram, 2x 2gb sticks but Vista is only detecting 3.25gb, but I thought this only happens to 32bit users? but im on 64bit.

any ideas

You need to enable memory mapping to do it, I'm not sure if there's some sort of online fix patch, but maybe unless you've got a mobo with the neccesary memory remap option you can't. Mine does have the option and 4gig works fine but didnt' until i set that option.

I posted this on the shuttle email thingy and this is the responce:

Dear Shuttle customer,

This is a normal behavior for 945 chip set. The reason is 945 chipsetdoes not support hole remapping function. The chipset could hold upto 4G of memory but the memory address after 3.3G are reserve for PCI resource, there for you will only see 3.3G of memory.

Is there anyway I turn the reserve off, Even on side of the box it says it supports 4GB maximum.
