How about "You dribbling idiots will be saying the same thing about every leader that doesn't fulfill your utopian fantasies every 10 years for all eternity... a true story" :)?
Everyone's read that genre before though, no-one would buy it again.:)

TBH no matter who is in power, someone will be peed off, its an impossible job. Same with top flight football manager, its impossible to win every game, cup, league etc, every season, no matter how much cash you have.

Was Blair any worse than Maggie ? Winston Churchill is apparantly "great", yet did he really do anything outstanding ? Or just get us through a war ?

I could be wrong, but the way I see it is under Labour, our economy is greater. The pound trades US$2. NHS waiting times is much lower. The media never did report this but after Iraq, the armed forces, especially the Navy which was many years behind technology, has had a major upgrade. More students are carrying on further education.

The bad things I'd say were the increase in tuition fee's fiasco some years back. Cash for Honours. Ill equipped troops in Iraq. The missing £2billion no knew where it went (which in all strictness is Brown's fualt). Ruth Kelly's incompetance. That guy who had an affair (apparently had a 2" penis! :p) and the resignation of the blind dude.

1. Labour inherited a strong economy from the Tories, which has seen consistent economic growth since long before Labour came into power. I can't remember if it's 1992 or 1994. There is much debate as to whether Labour have done a good job maintaining it, or whether they've simply been lucky given the UK's booming service industries.

2. How do you define a "good economy." Inflation is up, interest rates are rising, there doesn't appear to have been a significant improvement in public services despite the massive budget deficit from public spending by the government. House prices have also surged since 1997. The benefits system has also resulted in mass voluntary unemployment (as people avoid the employment and poverty traps) and thus immigration has also surged to ease the shortages in supply of labour.

The fact that it's £1:$2 isn't great. The rise in value of the pound means that our exports are more expensive relative to other currencies, and that damages our competitiveness on an international level and thus domestic employment and wages are likely to fall.

So is it a "good" economy, or is that just what 'they' say?

The Euro would sort that out of course, but we can't say that can we ;)

Only if the demand for our exports came largely from within the EU.

Interest rates going up won't help either. If anything it will attract foreign direct investment and cause the pound to strengthen even more so against the dollar.
