When I insert an empty 1GB memory card into my D200 it states 55 pictures remaining (compressed RAW + basic jpeg). However, I always manage to get well over 100 pics on the card.
Any ideas anyone? Thanks

Yes, but double????Justin said:The number of pictures remaining are just an estimate, the file sizes are always different, depending on how much data the photo records.
Happens with all four Sandisk Ultra IIs I have. The same ones as I used to use on the D70.Justin said:What memory card is it, if it's a cheap unknown make then it's likely to not be very good.

On the D70 it was always reasonably accurate.
Could be. I just checked Nikon's site for a firmware upgrade and it appears I have the latest version (2.0) already.divine_madness said:I recall my D70 used to under read before it got it's firmware upgrade (though only in RAW or only in Jpeg, I don't remember) maybe the D200 has a similar problem? :/
